Week 1
Approach to Analytics

Data analytics is not only about crunching numbers. Learn the framework that enables you to tackle any data question.

  • Formulate the appropriate data questions to a business question and find the best data to find solutions and insights.
  • Find and prepare the data sets to build the foundation of your analysis.
  • Analyze and visualize data to unravel insights, to finally present them and convince your stakeholders.
Week 2
Analysis in Excel

One of the cheapest yet most powerful tools available to all analysts, let's cover:

  • Prepare and clean data through Excel functions.
  • Pivot your data to quickly and efficiently slice and dice small data sets.
  • Plot and apply trend analysis to your data.
Week 3
Interacting with a SQL Database

Access a whole new world of datasets by directly querying databases of millions of records.

  • Understand the client-server architecture.
  • Select and filter data through SQL queries.
  • Aggregate millions of records into simple insights.
Week 4
Slice & Dice with SQL

Databases are a lot more efficient than spreadsheet at digging through millions of records. By using more advanced queries, let's:

  • Group to pivot your data.
  • Join data across different tables to enhance your insights.
  • Use subqueries and logic build specific measures and dimensions.
Week 5
Data Visualisation with Tableau

Tableau is one of the most popular visualization tools for data analysts. Through this software, you will learn different visualization techniques to give a voice to your data.

  • Use measures and dimensions to isolate your insights.
  • Explore your data to find outliers and discover trends.
  • Learn the techniques to make your visualization stand out in reports.
Week 6
Exploratory Dashboards

Very often, combining visualizations into interactive dashboards brings a deeper understanding of the relationships within our data set.

  • Create interactive dashboards through dynamic filtering.
  • Build compelling stories which call for action.
Week 7
Advanced Topics in Analytics

A few techniques that help you access insights faster.

  • Regular expressions: the magic tool to solve your text cleaning and analytics.
  • Use window functions to build more complex aggregations.
  • Compare your user cohorts to improve retention or marketing strategy.
Week 8
Capstone Project

Start building your portfolio of analytics projects by working on the dataset of your choice with the guidance of our instructor.

  • Formulate a question and find data.
  • Build a dashboard or report with recommendations.
  • Present your data product and learn from the other projects.
